How to make a prediction duelgo
In a prediction duelgo (a “prediction game”), players predict outcomes nobody knows yet at the time of predicting — a round of sports fixtures, the results of the evening and so on. After the deadline you enter the real results, the system recalculates the points and publishes the leaderboard.
A prediction game isn't a special duelgo type — it's a combination of three settings: prediction questions, a prediction slip at the end and a deadline.
Step A — set the questions as predictions
Add questions in the Content step. Suitable types are Single correct answer (match winner), Number (exact score), Estimate (attendance) and Ranking (table standings).
- Turn on points
For each question, turn on Set points per answer and set the scoring — don't forget the tolerance for estimates.
- Switch to “It hasn't happened yet”
Flip the I already know the answer / It hasn't happened yet switch to “It hasn't happened yet”. The question will be evaluated later, manually.
- Feel free to mix the modes
Some questions can be quiz-style (answer known, the player sees points immediately) and some predictions — both work in a single duelgo.
Step B — add the Prediction slip
At the bottom of the content list, click Add more content, choose the Closing category and the Prediction slip item. Write the moderator's message (e.g. “You'll find your predictions here 👇”) — the button linking to the player's personal prediction slip is generated automatically once they finish the game. The player can return to the slip at any time, and after evaluation it shows them the correct answers and their points.
The prediction slip must come after all the scored questions. The editor keeps an eye on this and reorders the items itself if needed — don't be alarmed if they seem to have “moved on their own”.
Step C — set the deadline and publish
In the Publish step, set “How long will the duelgo stay active?” — the date and time predictions close (typically kick-off). Adjust the close message shown to players who arrive after the deadline.
Check the short link and the social preview, click Publish and share the short link or QR code from the duelgo Overview.
Step D — evaluate after the event
As soon as the real results are known, enter them and let the system recalculate the points.
- Open the evaluation
On the duelgo Overview, click Evaluate. The form shows all the prediction questions together.
- Mark the correct answers
Pick the correct option, enter the correct number or value, set the correct order, and add keywords for open-ended questions. Mark a question whose correct answer isn't among the options as “No answer is correct”. Questions with no points are informational only — evaluating them doesn't change the score, but players will see the correct answer on their slip.
- Save the evaluation
Click Save evaluation. The recalculation runs in the background (data preparation → score recalculation → leaderboard → leagues) — you can safely close the page; once it finishes, you'll find the results in the statistics.
- Let the players know
In Statistics you'll find the leaderboard, success rates and prediction stats. The Send notifications button emails players a link to their results — you can edit the text before sending (see Emails to players).
Tips
In the publishing dialog you can place the prediction game into a league — points add up across rounds into the league leaderboard and players come back every round. Once evaluated, the league can no longer be changed.
If you got the results wrong, use Re-evaluate — enter the correct values and the score and leaderboard are recalculated.
The deadline can be moved even after publishing (Overview → Change closing date) — handy when a match is postponed.
Run through the duelgo via Preview (“Play”) before publishing — test answers don't count towards the results. Don't test via the live link: only each player's first playthrough counts.
