Moderator reactions and script branching

Reactions turn a duelgo into a conversation: the moderator instantly comments on what the player answered. On top of that, the editor can control the pace (“the moderator is typing…”) and, via display conditions, branch the script based on earlier answers.

Reactions on an option

In choice-based questions (single answer, multiple answers, ranking), every option has an Add moderator reaction button. A reaction can be text, an image or a GIF — you switch with a tab, and media can be uploaded or pasted in as an address. If you paste a GIF address into the text, the editor itself offers to switch to GIF.

The moderator sends the reaction right after that option is chosen — the perfect spot for a joke, a bonus fact or a bit of encouragement.

Conditional reactions for number and estimate

For numeric questions, reactions follow rules: each rule is an operator + value (equals · greater than · less than · within tolerance ± · not equal) with a reaction attached (text/image/GIF). You can add any number of rules — say, one line for an overshot guess and another for an undershot one.

Reaction to the nickname

The Nickname item has exactly one reaction. The placeholder {nick} works in the text — “Nice to meet you, {nick}!” shows up with the player's name.

Moderator typing time

In each item's “Settings (optional)” block there's a Moderator typing time card. The default mode calculates the time automatically from the text length (roughly 0.6–3.5 s); manually you can set 0–10 seconds to a tenth of a second. You can preview the “…typing” animation right on the card.

Short times keep the pace up; a longer pause before a punchline or the correct answer builds suspense.

Display conditions — branching the script

The Display conditions card shows an item only to a player who answered an earlier question in a certain way: “If the player answered Y to question X”. A condition can be placed on messages, images, GIFs, links and further questions — which is how a branched script comes about (e.g. home fans get a different branch than the away crowd).

Advanced conditions support several rules at once, negation (“did not answer”) and the choice of whether all of them must hold or at least one. Only choice questions positioned before the item you're editing are offered; if you delete a referenced question or move it below the item, the editor warns you.
