How to make a time-limited question

A time limit can be set on every question type except the star rating: Single correct answer, Multiple answers, Number, Open-ended question, Estimate and Ranking. When the limit runs out, the question is submitted automatically without an answer and the moderator responds with the message you've set.

Open the question
In the Content step, click the question in the left-hand list.
Expand “Settings (optional)”
You'll find the collapsed block below the question text and the options.
Turn on “Time limit”
Use the switch on the Time limit card. Enter the limit in seconds — the allowed range is 5–300, the default 30.
Adjust the time-out reaction
Once the limit is on, the time-out reaction is pre-filled — the text the moderator writes when the clock runs out (max 200 characters). Feel free to rewrite it so it fits your moderator's tone.

Speed bonus

For a scored question with a known correct answer, you can turn on the Speed bonus in the same block — a faster correct answer earns up to +50% extra points. With a time limit, speed is measured against the limit; without one, the first 7 seconds count.

Prediction questions (“It hasn't happened yet”) have no speed bonus — with a prediction, it doesn't matter how quickly it came in.

Practical tips

You can spot time-limited questions in the left-hand list by the badge with the number of seconds (e.g. “30s”) — so you can check the limits at a glance.

The player's clock starts when the question appears. Allow more time for longer texts, multiple selection and ranking (60 s and up); a short limit (10–15 s) suits quick knowledge questions where you want to prevent googling.
